DK 2020 00095 A1 1 Template for a Cutting Tool for Cutting Insulation and Method for Cutting Insulation Field of invention The invention relates to a template for a cutting tool for cutting insulation. The insulation to be cut is preferably of a type, where air is enclosed between fibres or inside foam, often used for thermal insulation of buildings, possibly also used for acoustic insulation, or used for insulation of other structures than buildings, as for example large transport vessels like ships. The template comprises a plate with a first surface and a second surface and with slots extending through the plate. One surface of the template is placed on a top surface of the insulation when cutting the insulation with a cutting tool. The invention also relates to a method for cutting insulation with the template. Prior art It is known for carpenters and others, when cutting a part of insulation off a roll or a batt of insulation, to measure by ruler an extension needed. The extension of insulation is measured as a distance from a free edge of the insulation and to the extension needed along the surface of the insulation, and where the cutting-off is to be performed. Marks like pen marks or cut marks are provided, after having measured the extension. Subsequently, a cut is made across the width of the roll or batt of insulation, possibly along a ruler in order to obtain as straight a cut as possible. The process of firstly measuring the extension, secondly providing a mark and thirdly cutting the insulation is time- consuming. The process may also lead to the marking being difficult to see afterwards and/or the cutting not being as straight as needed. In addition, when cutting small extensions off an insulation, much insulation may be wasted, if the measuring and/or the cutting is not properly done. DE10130438 discloses a plate to be placed on an insulating material. DK 2020 00095 A1 2 The plate contains a side slot-guide along which a knife is guided for cutting-out. Across a cutting-groove, the plate has a guide-aid for markings on the insulation material. Use of the plate of DE10130438 is fully dependent on insulation having markings across the width of the roll of insulation. If, and when, the insulation does not have markings, the plate of DE10130438 cannot measure any extension of the part of the insulation, which is to be cut out from the roll of insulation. In addition, the cut-out can only have an extension related to the marking on the roll of insulation; the plate cannot be used for measuring. Thus, there is a need for a template and a method, which enables cutting of insulation with great variety in a selected extension of the cut part of the insulation, and possibly at various selected angles along the extension of the insulation, and which reduces or even eliminates the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior art. Summary of the invention The object of the present invention can be achieved by a template having the features as defined in claim 1 and by a method having the steps as defined in claim 8. Preferred embodiments are defined in the dependent sub-claims and explained in the following description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings. The above object is obtained by a template comprising a plurality of through-going slots extending through the plate from a first surface to a second surface of the template for insertion in at least one of the slots of a cutting tool for cutting the insulation, - a plurality of indicia placed on at least the first surface, at least one of said indicia intended for alignment with part of the insulation, when cutting the insulation, and - where the plurality of through-going slots are provided at one side of a reference position of the template, and the plurality of indicia is DK 2020 00095 A1 3 placed at another, opposite side of the reference position of the template. The template of the invention provides a tool for cutting insulation at an incremental selected width from a part of the insulation, which the selected indicia is aligned with. A part of the insulation, which the selected indicia is aligned with, is preferably a free edge of the insulation. The incremental selected width is obtained by measuring the width with the template. The width is obtained by combining a distance of the selected indicia from a reference positon of the template with a distance of the selected slot from the reference position of the template. It is preferred that the plurality of slots extends along straight lines parallel with each other, that the plurality of indicia extends along straight lines parallel with each other, and that the plurality of slots and the plurality of indicia are parallel with each other. Hereby it is achieved, that cutting of the insulation is performed along one or more straight lines along which the slots extend, and that alignment of the selected indicia is performed along straight lines of the insulation, such as a free edge of the insulation. It may be beneficial, that the plurality of slots is positioned along the plate with equal mutual distance to each other, possibly with a mutual distance being a multiple of 0.5 cm; possibly a multiple of 1.0 cm; possibly a multiple of 2.0 cm; preferably a multiple of 2.5 cm, possibly a multiple of 5.0 cm. Hereby it is achieved, that measuring of a width of the part of the insulation to be cut free is easy and that perhaps more insulation of the same width may be cut free during the template being in the same position on the top surface of the insulation. For example, if cutting is DK 2020 00095 A1 4 performed along all slots having a mutual distance of 10 cm, a plurality of insulation with a width of 10 cm is cut free without having to reposition the template each time a new insulation having a width of 10 cm is to be cut free. A plurality of insulation having a width of 10 cm may, for example, be used as insulation around windows. It may be beneficial that the plurality of indicia is positioned along the plate with an equal mutual distance to each other, possibly with a mutual distance being a multiple of 0.5 cm, preferably a multiple of 1.0 mm, possibly a multiple of 2.5 cm. Hereby it is achieved, that the mutual distance of the indicia is selected as a division of the mutual distance between the slots. For example, the mutual distance between the slots may be 5.0 cm, the mutual distance between the indicia may be 0.5 cm, and at least ten indicia are provided. Thereby, the slots may be positioned along the top surface of the insulation in any incremental distance of 0.5 cm from the part of the insulation which the selected indicia is aligned with, such as a free edge of the insulation, even in an embodiment as mentioned, where the mutual distance between the slots is 5.0 cm. According to possible embodiments of the invention, the indicia are provided as one of the following indicia: indicia extending through the plate from the first surface to the second surface; indicia provided on a first surface of the plate; indicia provided on the second surface of the plate, or indicia embedded in the plate between the first surface and the second surface of the plate. Hereby it is achieved, that the indicia may be provided in the plate or on a surface of the plate depending on the material, which the plate is made of. Besides, the indicia may be provided in the plate or on a surface of the plate depending on the visual appearance, which the DK 2020 00095 A1 manufacturer of the template wants, or which is best for a person cutting insulation. It is preferred, that the first surface and the second surface of the 5 template are plane, at least along the surfaces where the slots are provided, and along the surfaces, where the indicia are provided. Hereby it is achieved, that the template may be placed on the top surface of the insulation to be cut, without any parts of the template damaging the top surface of the insulation. In addition, the template may be displaced, after having been placed on the top surface of the insulation. Displacement of the template may be needed when aligning some selected indicia with, for example, a free edge of the insulation. According to possible embodiments of the invention, the plate is made of a material based on one or more of the following materials: wood, plastic, paper, plaster or metal, and where the plate has a dimension along one extension, and parallel with the plurality of slots, that is larger than a dimension of the insulation to be cut, said dimension of the insulation extending along the one extension of the template, when the template is placed on the insulation. Hereby it is achieved, that the plate, which the template is made of, is made from a material best suited for a selected purpose. For example, a template made of wood is easy to manufacture, and can perhaps even be manufactured on-site, where wooden boards are available. Also, a template made of plastic is also easy to manufacture. A template made from metal is very wear-resistant compared to other materials, while a template made of paper can be made for one-time use when insulating a single building or other structure, and a template made of plasterboard may be made on-site, where plasterboards are available. DK 2020 00095 A1 6 A method according to the invention is a method for cutting insulation, and the method comprises the following steps: - providing an insulation to be cut and providing a template according to the invention, placing one surface of the template on a top surface of the insulation, - aligning a selected one of the plurality of indicia with part of the insulation, where aligning the at least one indicia with a section of the insulation depends on where the at least one of the slots for the cutting tool is to be placed along the top surface of the insulation, - inserting a cutting tool into a selected one of the plurality of slots and into the insulation, and displacing the cutting tool along the one slot and along the insulation for cutting the insulation, preferably cutting the insulation in two from one side edge of the insulation to an opposite side edge of the insulation. Hereby it is achieved that the insulation may be cut in any width down to perhaps increments of 0.5 cm. Besides, with the one and same template, a person may cut free any part of a roll or batt of insulation, and the width of the part of insulation cut free may be selected individually and incrementally, depending on where in a building or other structure the part of the insulation cut free is to fit. The method according to the invention preferably comprises the step of aligning the selected indicia with a part of the insulation being a side edge of the insulation, and where the slot,, where the cutting tool is inserted, is placed a distance from the side edge along the top surface of the insulation, where the distance is a combination of a distance of the indicia from a reference position of the template and a distance of the slot, where the cutting tool is inserted, from the reference position. Hereby it is achieved, that the width of the part of the insulation cut free from the rest of the insulation is a distance measured from a free DK 2020 00095 A1 7 edge of the insulation, and that the distance is selected incrementally for the part of the insulation cut free and fitting a measure of the building or other structure being insulated. According to a possible aspect of the method of the invention, the method comprises the step of aligning the at least one indicia with a part of the insulation, selecting a plurality of slots to insert a cutting tool, and inserting a cutting tool sequentially in the selected plurality of slots for cutting free a plurality of parts of insulation from the rest of the insulation, without displacing, at least deliberately, the template along the top surface of the insulation when cutting free of the plurality of parts of insulation from the rest of the insulation. Description of the Drawings The invention will become more fully understood from the detailed description given herein below. The accompanying drawings are given by way of illustration only, and thus, they are not limitative of the present invention. In the accompanying drawings: Fig. 1 is a schematic perspective view of a template according to the invention and Fig. 2 is a schematic view of the template placed on a top surface of an insulation. Detailed description of the invention Referring now in detail to the drawings for the purpose of illustrating preferred embodiments of the present invention, a template of the present invention is illustrated in Fig. 1. Fig. 1 shows a template consisting of a plate 2 having a second surface (not shown) and a first surface 4 and side edges 6, 8, 10, 12. In the embodiment shown, the template has a dimension with a width W DK 2020 00095 A1 8 between the edges 6 and 8 of 78.4 cm and a length L between the edges 10 and 12 of 68.5 cm. A plurality of slots 14 extends through the plate 2 from the first surface 4 to the second surface. In the embodiment shown, the number of slots 14 is twenty-two. The slots 14 extend along an extension A, from a short distance from one side edge 6 to a short distance from another opposite side edge 8. In the embodiment shown, the extension of the slots 14 is approximately 70 cm. In the embodiment shown the mutual distance between the slots is the same between each of the slots. The mutual distance B between the slots is approximately 2.5 cm. A width of each of the slots is approximately 4 mm. In an alternative embodiment, the mutual distance between the slots may be increasing from a first slot at one side of the plurality of slots, possibly to the left in the figure, towards a last slot at an opposite side of the plurality of slots, possibly to the right in the figure. In another alternative embodiment, the mutual distance between the slots may be decreasing from a first slot at one side of the plurality of slots, possibly to the left in the figure, towards a last slot at an opposite side of the plurality of slots, possibly to the right in the figure. In an even alternative embodiment, the mutual distance between the slots may be increasing from a central slot at the middle of the plurality of slots towards a first slot and a last slot, respectively, at opposite sides of the plurality of slots, to the left and the right in the figure. At each side of the template, through-going openings 16, 18 are provided. Indicia sections 20 are provided between the openings 16, 18 and are provided with indicia 22. In an alternative embodiment, only one opening is provided mid-wise along the width W between the side DK 2020 00095 A1 9 edges 6 and 8 of the plate 2, and two indicia sections 20 are provided between the one opening and the side edges 6 and 8. The one or more openings serve the purpose of being able to view the indicia of the indicia sections at the same time as viewing the part of the insulation, which selected indicia is to be aligned with (see fig. 2). The one or more openings 16, 18 may, as illustrated, be provided inside edges 10, 12 of the plate 2 of the template, so that the edges 10, 12 themselves serve as handle bars for handling the template. At each side of the plate 2, at indicia sections intermediate the three openings, the plurality of indicia 22 is provided. The indicia 22 are provided as grooves extending from the first surface 4 of the plate 2 and partly into the plate 2. Alternatively, the indicia 22 are provided as printed markings on the first surface 4 of the plate 22. Even in the alternative embodiment, the indicia are slots extending through the plate 2 like the slots 14 for insertion of the cutting tool. In the embodiment shown, openings 16, 18 and indicia sections 20 are provided at each of the side edges 10, 12 at each opposite side of the length L of the template. In an alternative embodiment, openings 16, 18 and indicia sections 20 are only provided either at the side edge 10 or at the side edge 12 at either side of the length L of the template. The indicia 22 are used for alignment of the template in relation to the insulation (see fig. 2). When part of the insulation is to be cut free, the cut must be provided at a selected position along the extension of the insulation, depending on the size of insulation needed to be placed at a selected part of a building or other structure. Alignment may be made along a free edge of the insulation or along other parts of the insulation that may be used as a marker of the insulation for aligning the indicia. DK 2020 00095 A1 10 For example, the mutual distance B between the slots 14 is the same between each of the slots and is 2.5 cm, and a mutual distance C between the indicia 22 is the same between each of the indicia and is 0.5 cm. In the embodiment shown, the number of indicia 22 is eleven. As illustrated in the figure, the indicia sections 20 have indicia 22 with a mutual distance C between the indicia being the same. Alternatively, the indicia sections may have indicia with a mutual distance between the indicia being different at different indicia sections. The mutual distance between indicia at one indicia section may be larger than the mutual distance between indicia on another indicia section. In addition, the mutual distance between indicia at one indicia section may be according to the Metric system, that is centimetres, while the mutual distance between indicia on another indicia section may be according to the Imperial system, that is inches, or even another measuring system. In an embodiment, where the indicia are slots extending through the plate, a tool such as a saw, a ruler or another flat, elongated tool may be inserted through the selected indicia. When the tool is inserted through the selected indicia, the tool may abut a free edge of the insulation, and the tool assists in aligning the selected indicia with the free edge of the insulation, when the free edge is used for alignment of the indicia. On each of the indicia sections 20 at each side 10, 12 of the plate 2, the indicia 22 closest to the plurality of slots 14 extend in alignment with an inner edge 24, 26 of the openings 16, 18 and the corner openings 18. These indicia 22, closest to the slots 14 and extending in alignment with the inner edge 24, 26 of the openings 16, 18 and the corner openings 18, constitute a reference position 28 of the template, when used for measuring a part of insulation to be cut free from rest of the insulation and when placed on the top surface of the insulation during cutting of DK 2020 00095 A1 11 the insulation (see Fig. 2). The slots 14 are all positioned at one side of the reference position 28, and all the indicia 22, apart from the indicia 22 at the reference position 28, are placed at the other, opposite side of the reference position 28. The inner edges 24, 26, along which the indicia 22 closest to the slots 14 are aligned, may also constitute the reference positon 28 of the template. The inner edges 24, 26, the openings 16, 18 are easy to align with a free edge of other parts of the insulation, because the free edge or other parts of the insulation are visible through the openings 16, 18, when placed on the insulation during cutting of the insulation (see Fig. 2). In an alternative embodiment, the mutual distance between the indicia may increase from the first indicia at one side of the plurality of indicia towards the last indicia at an opposite side of the plurality of indicia. In another alternative embodiment, the mutual distance between the indicia may decrease from the first indicia at one side of the plurality of indicia towards the last indicia at an opposite side of the plurality of indicia. In yet another alternative embodiment, the mutual distance between the indicia may increase from central indicia at the middle of the plurality of indicia towards the first indicia and the last indicia at opposite sides of the plurality of indicia. Fig. 2 shows a template being used for cutting insulation 30. The plate 2 is placed with a second side (not shown) of the plate 2 on a top surface 32 of the insulation. A selected part of insulation from a free edge 34 of the insulation 30 along the top surface 32 of the insulation will be cut free from rest of the insulation 30, when being cut. 30 Measuring the extension is made by combining a number of mutual distances C between a number of indicia 22 with a number of mutual distances B between a number of slots 14. DK 2020 00095 A1 12 As example, the selected width of the insulation to be cut free from the rest of the insulation may be 17.0 cm. In addition, for example, the mutual distance B between the slots 14 is the same between each of the slots and is 2.5 cm, and the mutual distance C between the indicia 22 is the same between each of the indicia 22 and is 0.5 cm. Measuring the distance 17.0 cm is made by selecting the indicia being at a position 2.0 cm away from the reference position, that is the indicia being closest to the plurality of slots 14. The 2.0 cm indicia section is aligned with the free edge 34 of the insulation 30. A cutting tool 36 for cutting the insulation 30 is inserted into the slot being at a of distance 15.0 cm from the reference position. Because the indicia 22 being 2.0 cm from the reference position is aligned with the free edge 34 of the insulation 30, and because of the cutting tool 36 being inserted into the slot 14 being 15.0 cm from the reference position, cutting of the insulation 30, when the cutting tool 36 is displaced along the 15.0 cm slot 14 and along the insulation 30, will be at 17.0 cm from the free edge of the insulation, that is 2.0 cm added to 15.0 cm. The extension of the part of the insulation cut free from the rest of the insulation will be 17.0 cm. In the shown position of the template, the template may be used for cutting free parts of the insulation having an extension of up to at least and about 60.0 cm, depending on which indicia is selected for alignment with the free edge of the insulation, and which is the distance from the reference position 28 to the side edge. If a part of the insulation with an extension of more than the extension of the template, as example more than 60.0 cm, is to be cut free from the rest of insulation, a method of cutting insulation is used comprising the following steps: - providing insulation to be cut and providing a template according to the invention, placing a second surface of the template downwards on a top surface of the insulation so that a first surface faces upwards away DK 2020 00095 A1 13 from the top surface of the insulation, - aligning a selected one of the plurality of indicia with part of the insulation, where aligning the selected one indicia with a section of the insulation depends on where the at least one of the slots for the cutting tool is to be placed along the top surface of the insulation, - subsequently pivoting the template around an axis extending along a side edge parallel with a width of the template, and extending opposite to where the selected one indicia is provided on the plate, - placing a first surface of the template downwards on the top surface of the insulation, so that the second surface faces upwards away from the top surface of the insulation and the side edge is maintained at a position being the same as when the selected indicia was aligned, and - inserting a cutting tool into a selected one of the plurality of slots and into the insulation, and displacing the cutting tool along the one slot and the insulation for cutting the insulation from one side edge of the insulation to an opposite side edge of the insulation. The method step of pivoting the template around an axis extending along a side edge parallel with a width of the template, and extending opposite to where the selected one indicia is provided, results in the template being displaced a distance along the top surface of the insulation corresponding to a distance from the selected indicia to the side edge opposite to the indicia. As example, firstly the template is placed so that a distance from the free edge of the insulation, which the selected indicia is aligned with, to the side edge opposite to the indicia is 60 cm. Secondly the template is pivoted and is placed so that a distance from the free edge of the insulation, which the selected indicia were aligned with, to a side edge neighbouring the indicia, is 120 cm. In basic, the template is pivoted like flipping a sheet of a book. In the following, the example of flipping a sheet of a book is related to reading lines from left to right and reading from top to bottom of each page. DK 2020 00095 A1 14 A right-hand side edge of a right-hand sheet, when reading a book, corresponds to the where the selected indicia is aligned with the free edge of the insulation. The page facing upwards on the right-hand sheet corresponds to the first surface of the template. The centre of the book, where the right-hand sheet of the book is attached to the book, corrasponds to the side edge opposite to the selected indicia. Flipping the right-hand sheet, when turning a page during reading, around an axis extending along the centre of the book, corresponds to pivoting the template around an axis extending along a side edge parallel with a width of the template, and extending opposite to where the selected one indicia is provided on the plate. After having flipped the sheet, the former right-hand sheet is now a left-hand sheet of the book. And after having flipped the sheet, the page corresponding to the first surface of the template, and formerly facing upwards towards the reader, is now facing downwards. However, the position where the former right-hand sheet and now the left-hand sheet is attached to the book, that is at the centre of the book, is maintained in the same position, as when the sheet constituted a right-hand sheet, namely at the centre of the book. And after having flipped the sheet, the former right-hand side edge of the former right-hand sheet, and formerly corresponding to where the selected indicia was aligned with the free edge of the insulation, now constitutes the left hand side edge of the left hand sheet. And after having flipped the sheet, the left-hand side edge of the left- hand sheet is at a distance from where the former right hand side edge of the former right hand sheet was positioned, being double the dimension of the sheet, seen sideways when reading the book. DK 2020 00095 A1 15 Accordingly, pivoting the template along an axis parallel with the side edge opposite to the selected indicia, result in a side edge neighbouring the selected indicia, is a at distance being double the dimension of the template, seen along the length (see Fig. 1) of the template. In Fig. 2, the selected indicia, that is the 2.0 cm indicia, is aligned with the free edge 34 of the insulation 30. Other parts of the insulation 30 may be used for aligning the selected indicia 22. The insulation 30 may have line markings or other markings along the top surface 32 of the insulation 30. Such line markings or other markings may be used for aligning the selected indicia 22 before cutting. Alternatively, the insulation 30 may have a coating or wrapping with a pattern or other visual appearance, which may be used for aligning the selected indicia 22. In the above examples, extensions and dimensions are according to the Metric system. Depending on which countries the template according to the invention is to be used, extensions and dimensions may be according to other measurement system such as the Imperial system.
